Helsinki House has voted voted to support a new charity this year.
Five charities were proposed by a number of students who each presented a short statement in our house meetings summarising the work of their preferred organisation.
Message from Dr J.
This has been a great year for the House and we have now been at the top for FIVE months. Well done!
You are the reason we are doing so well. I am very proud of you and the Neuchatel spirit which is all about "having a go" and doing your best. Whenever there is a house competition, you always turn up, show your talents and support each other.
We have an excellent team of student leaders:
House Captains: Beckie Buchanan, Angel Francis, Beth Smith
House Prefects: Charlie Hatcher, Eleanor Sowden
Junior House Leaders team: Lily Chiu, Alfie Foster, Harry Holden, Alfie Paxman, Anna Taylor, Sophie Todd, Megan Wallace, Siana Wells, Ellen Whitehead
And a lively House Council and news team.
Also of course your wonderful mentors and other Neuchatel staff, who work hard to look after you and know how to have some fun too!
Whatever it is – our original house logo, Justdancing through the week, practising relays and rounders down on the field, holding spectacular assemblies in the theatre, the Neuchatel choir, the September house quiz, Sports day successes, Recycled fashion cool on the catwalk, music, drama, art and everything else – you keep on showing how strong and creative you are!
Let's keep going and aim high – make this our year to win the House Cup – you can do it!!
We have completed one year together as Helsinki House. For those of you who knew the old school buildings and routine, things are very different now. It took some getting used to but I was very impressed with the way Helsinki students adapted so quickly, coped with being shifted out of our house space by a broken dividing wall and cooperated to ensure we still had a smooth start to the year.
In fact, throughout the school year you have all made our house meetings run smoothly. It takes care and cooperation for nearly 200 people to get into a small space for a short, productive meeting then get back out without wasting any of that valuable lunchtime. Many of you have contributed to your form's assemblies and, without exception, they have been worthwhile.
Delphi are going to go one step better than the usual newsletter by producing our half termly video newsletter. This will include up to date news about house activities and recent successes plus interviews with key members of staff and students. If you would like to be involved in the production of the video newsletter please see Miss McWilliam.
Our Year 11 Delphi students had a day to remember when they dressed up for their leavers day promenade.
