7 ‘‘My child started in Year 7 and is now in Year 12. He has loved it from day 1. I cannot praise Dane Court and all staff highly enough. It’s a fabulous school.’’ Learning at Dane Court is an enjoyable and exciting process. From the start of Year 7 to the end of Year 13, students receive expert teaching from committed and well-qualified staff. They are also given the necessary support to ensure that they have the skills and the confidence to achieve their very best within a challenging and inclusive curriculum. Students are encouraged to become effective life-long learners and the school takes every opportunity to provide resources to support this process. Our Teaching Approach Students have a wide variety of subjects to choose from: at GCSE, students can choose from over 20 subjects and in the Sixth Form the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme provide interesting and rigorous programmes of study which act as excellent preparation for university or employment. The school is proud of its IB World School status which fosters a true sense of internationalism. We are also proud of the all-round education that we provide, and our public examination results are the best in the area. We are determined to provide the right environment to ensure that this success continues. Whilst we recognise that each student has individual needs and will have particular and varied aspirations, our aim is that each student should leave us at the end of Year 13 with excellent qualifications and the ability to learn effectively that will equip them for the future. 6

9 The school places great importance in ensuring that the transition from primary to secondary school is a smooth and happy one. Year 6 students spend a day in school working with each other, their Year Leader, mentors and Sixth Form students who also act as form friends. We are also careful to support our students through their option choices for GCSE as well as for their Sixth Form options at the end of Year 11. Each student belongs to a house form group and is supported by a mentor and Year Leader as well as by members of the Senior Leadership Team. We believe that the best learning takes place when a student is happy, secure and well-motivated. Supporting our Students ‘‘I am very thankful for all the teachers and support staff that contribute to my daughter’s journey at Dane Court, thank you for your time, sacrifices and for being an educator/influencer of young people.’’ 8
